@thecounselorhub: You don’t need to know everything about AI to start talking about it with them. Just start talking. Get curious. Hold the judgment. Ask what they’re using AI for, what they like about it, what they think it gets wrong, and how they feel about it. The more comfortable they feel talking to you about technology, the more opportunities you’ll have to weave in conversations about using it safely. Here are three places to start: Privacy: AI chats aren’t necessarily private. Talk about what information should never be shared with a chatbot, including identifying details and sensitive personal information. Accuracy: AI can sound incredibly convincing and still be incredibly wrong. Encourage them to question responses and verify information with reliable sources. Relationships: AI can feel surprisingly human. Talk about the difference between interacting with a chatbot and connecting with real people, especially when it comes to personal advice or emotional support. You don’t have to cover everything in one conversation. The goal is to keep the door open so they feel comfortable coming to you with questions, concerns, and experiences as technology continues to change. Save this for your next teen chat about AI. #parentingteens #aisafety #studentsuccess #TeenMentalHealth #SchoolCounselor
