@instituteofhumananatomy: Your nervous system has trust issues, and it’s quietly capping how strong you can be. 🧠💪 An untrained person can only voluntarily recruit about 70 to 85% of their motor units on demand. The rest are held back, because your nervous system doesn’t trust you yet. With full access you could produce enough force to damage your own tendons and muscle, so it keeps a protective brake on called neuromuscular inhibition. Start strength training and that brake eases. You earn its trust, and recruitment climbs toward 90% or more. The nervous system also fires those units faster, more often, and coordinates them better. The result: way more force with no change in muscle size. That’s why beginners get stronger fast before they look bigger. It’s your brain learning to use the muscle you already have. Strength is a skill before it’s a size. 👉 Want anatomy like this every day? Download the new IOHA Daily app. Link in bio. my nervous system should trust me less 😭 I did some genuinely not-heavy squats and I'm basically crippled for the next three days 😭
like seriously, it was an easy session and now I can't use my quads at all

Way to be gender biased.
Untrained = woman
Trained = man
Given that most gym memberships are to women, your sexist bias is even more ugly. @IOHA
