@adzvantage.stanger: - 💔 *THE CALM AFTER THE STORM…* 📍 *DURBAN CBD | FRIDAY, 09 OCTOBER 2026* The streets are quiet this morning. The chaos has subsided. The smoke may have cleared, and life appears to be returning to normal. But beneath this silence lies a painful reminder of what unfolded last night. The video above shows Durban CBD this morning. Everything appears calm, but the aftermath of last night’s violent protest action tells a very different story. 💔 *Millions of rands in damage.* 🔥 *Vehicles burnt to the ground.* 🏪 *Shops looted and businesses destroyed.* 😢 Livelihoods shattered. Dreams reduced to ashes. Years of hard work wiped out in a matter of hours. Behind every burnt vehicle is someone who worked hard to afford it. Behind every looted shop is a business owner who may have spent decades building a livelihood. Behind every damaged business are employees whose jobs, families and futures may now be hanging in the balance. For some, that shop was more than just a business. It was their entire life's work. It was how they fed their children, paid their bills, supported their families and held on to the hope of a better tomorrow. And in a few terrifying hours, everything they worked for may have been taken away. *All for what?* What has truly been achieved when the dust settles, but businesses are destroyed, vehicles are burnt, innocent people are left counting their losses, and families are left wondering how they will survive tomorrow? Protest action may come to an end. Roads may reopen. Shops may eventually unlock their doors again. The city may carry on as though nothing happened. But for those who have lost everything, life will never simply return to normal overnight. The financial losses can be counted. The emotional scars are harder to measure. And the fear, uncertainty and heartbreak left behind cannot be swept away with the broken glass. There is something deeply painful about watching a city burn and knowing that ordinary people, who may have had nothing to do with the issues being protested, are often the ones who pay the heaviest price. A nation cannot build a better future by repeatedly destroying the foundations on which its people depend. *We cannot keep burning what we need to build. We cannot keep destroying the very economy that must create jobs, feed families and give our children hope.* The world is watching. History is watching. And future generations will one day look back and ask what we did with the opportunities we were given. Will they remember a nation that stood together, protected its people and built something meaningful? Or will they remember a nation that turned to fire and destruction whenever anger boiled over? We all deserve to be heard. Communities deserve dignity, justice and solutions to their grievances. But there is a heartbreaking difference between fighting for a better future and destroying the future of those around us. *A protest should never cost an innocent person their entire life's work.* Durban will rise again. Its people are resilient. Businesses will try to rebuild, workers will search for ways forward, and families will find the strength to carry on. - But resilience should never be an excuse to normalise destruction. Today, as the city wakes to the calm after the storm, let us remember that every burnt vehicle represents a loss, every destroyed business represents a dream, and every shattered livelihood represents a family facing an uncertain future. 💔 *The streets may be quiet, but the consequences of last night's violence will be felt long after the crowds have gone home.* South Africa, we must ask ourselves: *What kind of country are we building if we keep destroying what others have spent a lifetime creating?* Because life does continue. - But the damage remains. And the world will remember not only what we stood up for, but also how we chose to fight for it. 🇿🇦 *May we learn to build more than we burn, heal more than we hurt, and leave our children a country they can be proud of.*
