I spent their childhood especially the early years in a constant state of overwhelm. They’re all adults now and I think we’ve got a good relationship but I’ve still apologised and explained to them I wasn’t the best or most present during their early years. They were fed, clothed, warm and had the things they needed but I know I was not the best mum. I know I could’ve and should’ve done more. I was learning, I had trauma and none of that was their fault. We try to be better - That’s all we can do.

I would say learn about your parents childhood. When I became an adult, moreover a parent, I was able to forgive my Father. When I learned about his childhood, I learned to admire him. We never reconciled, but I was able to understand. I did better than my parents and my daughter is doing better than me with her children. 😏

oh boy this is so me......I wish I could do it all over.....I was broken person and so young when I had my baby....I was never ready to have kids and did not have great parents as an example...but I try to be better every single day
