@seanp591: Lakota-led Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation released 50 bison onto nearly 40,000 acres in South Dakota’s Badlands on October 6, 2026, according to KOTA’s follow-up report. The 39,904-acre Stronghold range is part of a community-led effort to restore native prairie and strengthen Lakota connections with buffalo. Thunder Valley secured a 25-year lease from the Oglala Sioux Tribe for the land. Before introducing the herd, the organization rested the former cattle-grazing range and collected baseline ecological data. Researchers will use that information to track changes in soil health and biodiversity. The wider project also includes restoring culturally important plants such as sage and prairie turnip—bringing wildlife restoration and care for traditional resources together. What are your thoughts on this Lakota-led buffalo restoration effort?🦬🪶 #IndigenousPeoples #bison #wildlifeconservation #habitatrestoration #Lakota Sources: • KOTA — October 7 follow-up report on the release • Thunder Valley CDC — Stronghold project and land lease • Dakota News Now/KOTA — restoration plans and ecological monitoring

My DREAM would be to live amongst the animals and trees... Not in some man made building forged from their flesh and blood. Yes, I eat meat... or whatever it is we call meat... It's just the way that God intended it. This is what honoring your mother really looks like. Stunning.
