Problem is the older people are the ones saying we should restrict migration but won't be affected by the shrinking tax and labour base. Except when they are in the nursing home and nobody can look after them - but then it will be too late

Make the country affordable and lovable for the average person and you’ll have a lot more births . I don’t think we should stop immigration but we shouldn’t have more immigration than births per year

immigration is a poor substitute for declining birth rates. Rather than tackle the cost of living head on and addressing the factors contributing to reduced birth rates, successive governments have continued to just circumvent it by increasing migration.
