For the longest time I thought everyone else felt uncomfortable like me making eye contact but they were just better at “acting”. Come to find out people actually don’t feel uncomfortable and it comes natural. I’ve always struggled because it feels extremely uncomfortable and I don’t know how long to keep eye contact so I wind up not paying attention to what they’re saying because I’m thinking okay look now and now look away, okay now nod and smile… so for years I’ve been practicing it not knowing people don’t actually practice this. my psychiatrist who says I have social anxiety said no one actually looks at peoples eye and that I should practice looking at people’s forehead and chin. Now I feel even more frustrated because it’s a new thing I have to practice and how long am I supposed to look at someone forehead?
