I’ll give you a clue… You can’t say market cap doesn’t matter while simultaneously using a market cap multiplier as your reason for getting to these fairy-tale price targets. I’ll reiterate, like I do in every post about XRP: it is a great asset. My thesis has always been that attention leads to buying flows. You don’t need to overthink this stuff. XRP will likely attract outsized attention. The elephant in the room, however, is the unlocks. They can become far too dilutive for coin holders and create extreme volatility, usually to the downside. You can literally see it on a price chart. Then people comment with things like: “But most of it gets locked back up in escrow.” Yep, great. That’s like saying, “Well, my tap isn’t leaking as much water as you say it is.” It’s still a leaking tap. And re-escrowing tokens also lengthens the time it takes for the token to become fully diluted. The market-cap argument can be traced back, in part, to a viral blog by Galgitron called “The Myth of Market Cap.” Influencers have since used it as a framework for explaining why XRP could reach prices like $10,000 per token. It simply cannot under anything resembling today’s supply and valuation assumptions. The blog itself is very well written, and much of the underlying argument is correct. Where it falls down is in how far the conclusion gets stretched. And saying it “overreaches” is probably an understatement.
