Antihistamine will help. It’s a histamine intolerance or MCAS

I have a tattoo I got on my ankle 18 years ago and a couple of times a year this happens it gets itchy and the tattoo itself raises. I think it’s the ink they used gives you a histamine reaction that’s why some do and some don’t. Don’t quote me, I’m no expert, but that’s what I was told. 😂

I've owned a tattoo shop for 13 and it's seen this before ! It's generally folliculitis, when you cause friction to the area it creates these bumps or a granuloma 💛 dermaid from the chemist works great and antihistamines

I'd agree with the antihistamine advice. I always get a an eczema flare up when I have tattoos amd my old ones get itchy and bumpy. antihistamine and a non fragrance moisturiser works a treat for me.

It’s nothing to do with the tattoos , The immune system can react to specific tattoo pigments (especially red, yellow, or black inks), causing itchy, raised bumps that might appear weeks, months, or even years after getting inked, or a localised contact dermatitis, just apply a cool compress to it or use antihistamine

heavily tattood at 40 here. I get it from some of my oldest tattoos I've had for 10+ years that have never had an issue before. it's just histamine responses. same as how suddenly certain types of grass make my skin itchy. your body is just changing as you age and it's decided this area is different to the rest, maybe the ink is slightly deeper than others, so it's raised a build up of histamine within your system for that location. it's completely harmless. take an antihistamine if it bothers you (though not too frequently I.e max 1 a week, as they have been linked to Alzheimer's). also girly this is the start of many weird changes to come - you're likely on the cusp of going into perimenopause era now or in the next several years. I found mine came on when peri was possibly coming on as I started having other body changes over the last few years. don't overthink it. just keep an eye on symptoms for weird things that crop up and don't go away over time, or maybe do magically go away after 6 months - and I guarantee all roads at your age lead back to perimenopause
