#duet with @Doutor do cabelo #tratamentocapilar AFRICAN WOMEN SHOULD NEVER FEEL THAT THEIR NATURAL HAIR MAKES THEM LESS BEAUTIFUL. 👩🏾‍🦱❤️🇬🇭 This is a conversation we need to start having more often in African homes, schools, workplaces and society. Why should an African woman feel uncomfortable walking into a professional environment with the hair that naturally grows from her head? Why should she feel she must straighten it, cover it or change its texture before she can be considered beautiful, presentable or professional? WHEN DID OUR NATURAL HAIR BECOME SOMETHING WE HAVE TO JUSTIFY? An African woman who chooses to keep her natural hair should feel confident. She should feel normal. She should feel beautiful. She should feel accepted. HER NATURAL HAIR IS NOT A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. And this is not an attack on wigs, braids, extensions or women who choose other hairstyles. Every woman deserves the freedom to express herself. But that freedom must also include the choice to remain natural without feeling inferior or being judged. Parents, what are we teaching our daughters about their hair? Schools, what messages are we sending young girls? Employers, are we confusing professional appearance with particular hair textures? African society, are we genuinely celebrating our natural beauty, or are we still teaching women to change themselves to feel accepted? NATURAL AFRICAN HAIR IS NORMAL. NOT AN EXCEPTION. We should be raising girls who understand that their natural features are not disadvantages. AN AFRICAN WOMAN DOES NOT HAVE TO CHANGE HER NATURAL HAIR TO EARN RESPECT, CONFIDENCE OR ACCEPTANCE. ❤️ Let’s have this conversation.
