God sometimes withdraws the sense of His presence, not the reality of it, to see what’s truly in our hearts. Scripture says, “God withdrew from [Hezekiah], in order to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart” (2 Chron. 32:31). When the test begins, the classroom gets quiet. The teacher doesn’t walk out. They simply stop talking to see what the students have learned. The silence doesn’t mean they’ve abandoned the room.
