Yesterday I realised the snow leopard in the video and the snow leopard in the photo are the same individual, a female snep named Jessie! More information about this beautiful snep below: Jessie was born on April 28th 2014 at the Welsh Mountain Zoo with her brother Tom (also called Arataan) and a cub that sadly passed away the same day. Their parents are father Szecsuan and mother Otilia. Tom and Jessie are named after Welsh legend Sir Tom Jones and Jessie J who was performing in the area at the time. On November 12th 2015, Jessie was transferred to Hertfordshire Zoo (previously Paradise Wildlife Park) At Hertfordshire Zoo she was introduced to a male snow leopard named Panja. Together they shared many lovey-dovey moments making them a fan favourite snow leopard couple! Sadly, Panja passed away in 2024 at the age of 13 and now Jessie lives at the zoo by herself. Visitors and photographers frequently share close-up shots of Jessie, capturing her expressions from yawning to what looks like a “smile” showing her canines. She’s often seen eating, resting on rocks, or trying to stay inconspicuous in her enclosure. The photos highlight her calm nature and have made her a favorite with guests at the zoo.
