I read the book and they conveniently left out/skirted around a lot of very important context. Sexual abuse was absolutely RAMPANT in this family to a pathological degree, and how several of the brothers were very abusive towards their siblings.

My mom has schizophrenia and she had 9 kids then her first 3 sons got it and passed. Then my younger sis and brother got it. Sister passed but younger brother just lives on the streets. None of them liked the medicine that was prescribed.

Genetics play a big role. My sister was diagnosed schizophrenic decade ago. Now my 2nd sister is starting to show concerning symptoms that point toward psychosis (auditory hallucinations, paranoias, delusions). I’ve been trying to convince her to see a psychiatrist or psychologist. Even my 3rd sister is also acting strange, she drove suddenly across states to my parents home all paranoid. It doesn’t exactly seem like schizophrenia though, I kept thinking she may be bipolar but I like her to see a professional as well. I myself have mental health issues as well, OCD. Unlucky generic lottery I suppose

I think the things that shocked me the most in the docuseries was that the youngest daughter was being SA'd by her second oldest brother and one of the brothers who had schizophrenia m*rd*red his girlfriend and himself
