This may not be the kind of post you typically expect from a real estate professional, but some things are bigger than business. As a child of immigrants who came to this country in search of a better life, this issue is deeply personal to me. I cannot stand by silently while people are taken from their communities, families are torn apart, and children are left wondering if their parents are coming home. I built my business around helping people and families find a place to call home. For me, that responsibility doesn’t begin and end with a transaction. So I want to be very clear about where I stand: If you support I.C.E. and the separation of families taking place in our communities, I’m not your Realtor. I understand that making a statement like this may cost me business. I’m okay with that. There are moments when your values have to mean more than a commission check. I would rather stand firmly behind what I believe is right than stay silent because speaking up might hurt my bottom line. And to those who feel the same way: use your voice. Stand up for your neighbors, your friends, your coworkers, and the families in your community. Speak out against what you believe is injustice. Don’t allow fear of losing business, followers, clients, or approval to keep you silent. If you believe families deserve dignity and humanity, I invite you to stand with me and make your voice heard. Silence is a choice, too. I know what mine will be. Not all business is good business. #realtor #realestate #oregon #Home #house — Fernando Barajas
