Makes sense to me. "Alcohol" has two 'L' sounds in it, which don't exist in Japanese, and the Japanese word is simply 'sake.' English speakers think 'sake' means specifically rice wine but it's actually a general term for alcohol beverages. We don't usually use the word "alcohol" but it's pronounced like "arukaho-ru."
