@rah_inactive: HTTD: How’s Koguma Doing? UPDATE 2 - Typhoon Koguma: Well, Typhoon Koguma is certainly getting closer to major typhoon intensity, now with the storm becoming a high-end Category 2 typhoon as it begins to take more of a northwesterly turn. The storm is not necessarily a threat to land but is expected to get rather strong as it’s projected to rapidly intensify over the next day or two, with the JTWC forecasting the storm’s potential peak at Category 4 intensity with winds of up to 140mph (~225kph). As of this moment, Typhoon Koguma currently has maximum sustained winds of up to 110mph (~175kph) with an estimated central air pressure of 964mb, moving west-northwest at an estimated speed of 15mph. Typhoon Koguma is not near any land regions at this moment; however, the JTWC is expecting for the storm to become a major typhoon within the next 6 to 12 hours after this update gets published, where it will continue to intensify towards Category 4 intensity over the next 24 to 48 hours, where it will then begin to curve towards the northeast by early Sunday (Zulu). Forecasting models are having moderate to high confidence with the potential track of Typhoon Koguma over the next 5 days, with almost all models recognizing the storm’s northeasterly pattern set to occur by the 2-day mark. Once again, Koguma is not expected to make any impacts over land, so no insights are available for us to analyze the storm’s potential impacts. Nonetheless, we will continue to monitor the storm, along with several others across the Northern Hemisphere, for this and the following week.
