I know this probably wasn’t your intention, but framing this as “the feminine urge” contributes to the societal tendency to associate behaviours perceived as weak or irrational with femininity. Saying “ouch” when you bump into something, even when it doesn’t hurt, has absolutely nothing to do with femininity or gender identity. It’s simply a human behaviour, so I think it’s interesting how we’ve come to gender even the most mundane things.
