WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has warned that federal authorities will investigate possible illegal voting by noncitizens following the November 3 midterm elections. During an interview with Fox News, Mullin said DHS would collect voting records and examine them to identify anyone who may have voted illegally. “After this election, we’ll be gathering all the data. We’ll be gathering the voting logs, and we’ll be going through those and making sure that no illegals voted,” Mullin said. He later issued another warning on X, stating: “If you vote illegally, we will find you,” adding, “Only Americans should decide American elections.” Immigration and Customs Enforcement also issued a warning that individuals found to have violated federal election laws could face arrest and prosecution. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice announced on November 2 that it had brought election-related charges against 63 individuals nationwide, including four undocumented immigrants. The cases involve allegations of unlawful voting, fraudulent voter registration and false claims of U.S. citizenship. Attorney General Todd Blanche said: “These foreign nationals allegedly took advantage of the trust of the American people and flouted the laws that govern our nation’s elections. This Department of Justice will continue investigating and prosecuting voter fraud to restore confidence in our electoral system.” The DOJ also reported that 239 people had faced election-related voting fraud charges since President Donald Trump began his second term. Separately, DHS previously claimed that preliminary reviews of voter registration records in four states identified as many as 256,463 possible noncitizens on voter rolls. However, state officials have disputed the accuracy of some of these findings, saying the lists may include American citizens and individuals who are not registered voters. The administration's efforts have also faced legal challenges over requests to states to set aside ballots belonging to people identified as potential noncitizens. The investigation and legal disputes are continuing. Federal officials say they intend to pursue cases involving violations of election laws, while questions remain about the accuracy of the voter lists being examined.
