Just when you start believing this might finally be our year, here come those same old Dallas Cowboys to bring us right back down to earth! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into Thursday Night Football looking for their FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON, and wouldn't you know it, they found it against America's Team! TAMPA BAY 24 – DALLAS 16! Now, if you watched my prediction before the game, I told you Dallas better not overlook Tampa Bay! I picked my Cowboys to win by three, but I also warned you this had TRAP GAME written all over it! Think about it! A short week, very little time to practice, tired players, and a Tampa Bay team struggling to find its first victory. Dallas was riding high, coming off some impressive performances, and probably already thinking about getting a few days off after Thursday night. And standing across the field was a rookie quarterback! You could almost hear the Cowboys thinking, "We've got this one!" WELL, SOMEBODY FORGOT TO TELL THAT ROOKIE QUARTERBACK! 😂 He wasn't supposed to come out there and help beat the mighty Dallas Cowboys! But that's exactly what happened! And give Tampa Bay's defense some credit! They made life miserable for those Dallas receivers. After watching CeeDee Lamb put on a show with 17 catches in his previous game, the Buccaneers weren't about to let Dallas have another offensive party! The Cowboys came out looking pretty good, marching down the field and scoring a touchdown on their opening possession. I thought, HERE WE GO! Dallas is going to take care of business! But after that? GOOD GRIEF! The offense that had looked so dangerous suddenly couldn't find its rhythm. The big plays weren't coming, the receivers couldn't get loose, and those scoring opportunities became few and far between. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay kept fighting! They didn't care about Dallas being the favorite. They didn't care about the Cowboys' winning streak. They came to play football, and they walked away with their first victory! Now, I've been a Cowboys fan long enough to know how this story usually goes. For nearly 30 years, we start getting excited. We win a few games, everybody starts talking playoffs, and before you know it, somebody is mentioning the SUPER BOWL! Then comes a game like this! A game you're supposed to win. A team you're supposed to beat. And somehow we find a way to make them look like championship contenders! SAME OLD COWBOYS! 🤦‍♂️ Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Cowboys fan, and I'll be right back cheering for them next week. But being a Dallas fan ought to come with a free blood pressure monitor and a bottle of antacids! Congratulations to Tampa Bay! You earned this one! And Dallas?
