🚨Gary Neville on Rodrigo Bentancur getting sent off after headbutting Luke Shaw: 🗣️ Gary Neville: “Look, Bentancur can have absolutely no complaints about that red card. None whatsoever. But what concerns me is that people are focusing on the headbutt and ignoring the madness that led up to it. Go back and watch the sequence again. There’s a loose ball, Bentancur comes flying in, and Luke Shaw has to get himself out of the way. Now, knowing Luke’s injury history, I can only imagine what goes through his mind in that split second. This is a player who has spent far too much of his career fighting to get back on the pitch. He knows what a serious injury can cost him. So when he sees a challenge coming that could leave him on the treatment table for months, he gets out of the way. And I don’t blame him one bit. Some people might call that pulling out of a challenge. I call it having a brain. Then the situation escalates. Cunha gets involved in the next phase, tensions rise, and Shaw finally goes over to Bentancur and gives him a push. Now, let me be clear: I don’t particularly like that from Luke. You can confront a player without putting your hands on him. He could have handled that better. But I understand his frustration. He’s just watched a series of challenges that, from his perspective, have gone beyond what he considers acceptable. He’s clearly had enough, and he wants Bentancur to know it. Then Bentancur gets back up and headbutts him. Honestly, what are you doing? You’re playing for a massive football club, in a high-pressure game, and you allow one moment of anger to destroy your afternoon. You have a responsibility to your teammates, your manager and the supporters. You cannot react like that and expect there to be no consequences. And do you know what stood out to me? Shaw didn’t need to throw himself to the ground to make the incident look worse. He didn’t need to roll around or exaggerate anything. He stayed on his feet, and the referee could make the decision based on what actually happened. I’ve always believed that officials should judge incidents on their severity, not on how dramatically a player reacts afterwards. A headbutt is a headbutt. Whether Shaw falls over or stands his ground doesn’t change what Bentancur did. And this is where I think Tottenham have a serious problem. Aggression is part of football. You need players who compete, who tackle, who make life uncomfortable for the opposition. But aggression without control is just stupidity. You can press aggressively. You can tackle hard. You can get in someone’s face and make it a physical contest. But the moment you start putting your head into another player’s face, you’ve crossed a line. I would have a word with Luke Shaw about the push, absolutely. But Bentancur has to look at himself and ask why he allowed his emotions to take control. The biggest mistake Bentancur made wasn’t getting involved in an argument with Luke Shaw. It was giving the referee a decision he simply couldn’t ignore. And at this level, that is unforgivable. Your teammates are now left to deal with the consequences because you couldn’t keep your temper under control. You can argue about the original challenges all you want. You can debate whether Shaw should have reacted differently. But once Bentancur chose to headbutt him, the debate about the red card was over. Luke Shaw walked away from a moment that could have ended badly for him. Bentancur walked away from the same moment with a red card. One player protected himself; the other failed to control himself. And that’s the difference between experience and recklessness.” [ This is the source @UTD_Seth001 ]#mufc #manutd #manchesterunited #creatorsearchinsights #capcut
