@the_kyiv_independent: Kyiv’s streets and apartment blocks were plunged into darkness on the evening of Oct. 8 after a Russian attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The outages hit most neighborhoods of the capital, home to over 3 million people, leaving residents to find their way home by flashlight. Throughout the day, the city experienced power outages in most neighborhoods, with the city metro shut down due to lack of electricity. Without power, many residents also reported a lack of running water.
