Aloha everyone. Hurricane Lowell is currently a Category 3 hurricane, and forecasts indicate that it could strengthen as it approaches Kauaʻi. Because Kauaʻi may experience significant impacts, I wanted to share this while I still have the ability to communicate. For some historical perspective, when Hurricane Iniki made a direct hit on Kauaʻi on September 11, 1992, it struck as a Category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of approximately 145 mph. The entire island lost electricity, and thousands of utility poles were damaged or destroyed. More than 1,400 homes were destroyed, and approximately 5,000 people were displaced. Many residents were without power for up to three months, while telephone service and other forms of communication were severely disrupted. Access to basic necessities, including food, water, ice, fuel, and other resources, was also limited for weeks in many areas. I share this because if Lowell significantly impacts Kauaʻi, there is a very real possibility that we could be without power, cell service, WiFi, or other means of communication for an extended period of time. My assistant, Aja, will reach out to clients and family if she does not hear from me by a certain time. If I miss an appointment, event, scheduled live, mentorship, or other engagement, please know that I have not forgotten about you or simply failed to show up. I may genuinely have no way to communicate. My priority right now is preparing and keeping my family, animals, and home safe. Thank you for your patience, understanding, prayers, and concern for Kauaʻi. 🙏🏽 Apryl
