@danmalonemoney: Afraid of gift tax ruining your child’s investment fund? Don't be. 🛑👇 One of the biggest misconceptions Irish parents have is that they need a special children's account or that Revenue will hit them with gift tax for setting money aside. Revenue doesn't care whose name is on the account - they care about clear documentation. Here is how to set up an investment fund for your child cleanly and tax-free: 1️⃣ Open a Separate Account: Create a new investment account in your own name solely dedicated to your child's money. Never mix your personal investments with gifted funds. 2️⃣ Document the Transfers: Set up a €140 monthly transfer and write a reference note like Gift for [Your Child] from [Whoever]. 3️⃣ Stay Under the Threshold: €140/month equals €1,680 per year - well under the €3,000 Small Gift Exemption per parent, per year. Result? Zero gift tax. 4️⃣ Transfer at 19: When you hand over the funds in the future, your child only pays tax on the investment gains. No complex legal structures or specialized accounts needed - just clean tracking. 💡 💬 Comment GIFT below and I’ll send you the full step-by-step setup guide straight to your DMs! When investing, your capital is at risk and you may get less back than invested. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results.
Can you provide any publication from Revenue to support this theory?

The gift has to be given to your child and they must own the funds immediately, that’s the idea of writing it in trust. If you open an account in your own name then the money deposited is still yours, you can access it whenever you want. Show your Revenue briefing on this.

Curious how the shares are transferred when child is 18/19 ? Do they need to get sold ? And account for tax on gain that way
