Absolutely not . There is an independent investigation that says it is not over diagnosed. It did say the system is on its knees ! More people do not get diagnosed than diagnosed although more are seeking assessments .

It’s not being overdiagnosed it’s finally getting attention that this is a real thing despite the fact that that attention has come from it becoming “trendy” which I don’t agree with but it’s shown a lot of people that their struggles are for a reason and helped people with undiagnosed autism try to seek help it’s incredibly difficult to be diagnosed when you actually HAVE autism and complaining that your system is that underfunded and neglected that YOU could potentially misdiagnose people is not the same as overdiagnosis the issue doesn’t lie with people who have autism or are trying to figure out their struggles and are trying to be diagnosed the issue lies with the faulty system that can’t provide these people the support they need but we stay pointing the finger at the people with REAL issues they’re going through trying to get help autism isn’t a mental health issue it’s a DISABILITY it presents not just mentally but physically and I’m sick of it being spoken about by people who have absolutely no idea

Only reason I got diagnosed with autism and adhd is because they pushed me up the list bc I ended up in hospital for mental health ✌️😭

I got diagnosed with adhd recently because when I got diagnosed with autism as a child they said I also fit the criteria for adhd but they could only diagnose one. that's a huge part of the rise, because a lot of us have both but the doctors weren't allowed to diagnose both, only one or the other.

That in feary would work for say your leg is hanging off that person should be priority over someone with a cold however, many children especially girls mask say in a school environment but, could be the same as a child who reacts at school but does it at home and those children would be left waiting longer as the school dosnt see it and the parents arnt taken seriously enough. so, whilst a family is potentially at breaking point!

They didn’t take it seriously a decade ago. Only the loud boys in class got diagnosed, the girls got ignored.

No, it’s just awareness that we didn’t have in the old days. I’m 33 and have Autism and I find the increase of diagnosis valuable as I was a forgotten child at school which caused me 3 years of depression from year 9 to year 11

I am 35 I know 100% I have adhd do I need a diagnosis at my age no, would I like the meds to help me yes definitely but I’m not going ahead with the waiting list as I’d rather people like my son with SEN needs are prioritised

: “Over diagnosed” because they want to limit help 😂. Some will just carryon with life undiagnosed as they were before then. So don’t treat them differently when they act it.
