When my mom divorced my dad, I was young and was upset. I thought my mom didn’t care for my dad at all because I never saw her cry. I thought she was cold and detached. 3 years after the divorce, we were at Ross, in the shoe section. I saw my mom look at these pair of black ballerina flats with ribbons on them. She froze and out of nowhere, she started bawling her eyes out. I remember being so shocked, I asked her what was wrong. But she just took my hand, and rushed out of the store. It wasn’t until years later when I asked her about it again. She told me those black flats with ribbons were the same ones my dad’s mistress had. My mom knew that because she saw a text from her on my dad’s phone, telling him thank you. He had bought those flats for her. That’s how my mom found out my dad was cheating… This whole time, my mom was still hurt, still traumatized by my dad. I haven’t forgiven him for what he did.

When u feel sad and wanting to cry just remember he cheated he moved on quickly and he’s supposedly living his best life with the new girl he’s not worth it at all let go fully open up to dating

And one day, you’ll let the thought pass through your mind and then go about your day, maybe with some type of fondness for a beautiful memory but a gratefulness that you know you deserved better and love the life you’ve created since. It’s been 20 years for me , our marriage was 25 years together . My lesson was to never love someone that much again b/c it just about killed me . ( multiple affairs ) but , I still dream about him ( in comforting ways ) we still see each other ( at funerals ). Because I met him/ family in high school .
