As an ordinary Russian, I see a clear benefit in the visible results of the two countries drawing closer. Not at the level of geopolitics, but in everyday interactions. For instance, I was able to enter China as a tourist without a visa (and I sincerely hope the visa-free period would be extended), and I felt I was treated more warmly than some other foreign tourists once I mentioned I was from Russia. There is a great deal of cultural exchange, and many new opportunities for Russian students to study there have opened up.
In short, yes, we are different; we don’t agree on every issue, contrary to what the West might claim. Yet, personally, as a tourist and a guest in China, I sensed a welcoming atmosphere, from customs officers and police to the elderly people in the hutong area where I stayed.
As for using Китай for China - I must tell 99,9 percent of Russians don't even know it's nomadic roots.
The antichinese sentiment mostly comes from soviet-era propaganda (we still use hongweibing to designate young extremists and radicals—nihilists), the dissatisfaction that even though we are called "allies for life" - China ain't going into war against West (which is a crazy statement I heard from some people) and ofc the most infamous fear that once we lose the war/ignore the Asian front - China is going to invade us for Siberia. That's like every single antichinese arguments I heard up to this day (they are all extremely stupid)
