If you’re looking for the REAL answer its for the A/C. It cools the aircraft in hot weather and has a heat setting for cold weather 👍

It’s a 50/50 mix right now so it doesn’t take off prematurely . The pure helium is put in right before pushback.

As a fueling coordinator when we get a reroute uplift that’s how we get the fuel onboard.

Ramp agent here, but I’m pretty sure that is where they store the passenger oxygen for emergencies.

Working in SOC I can confirm that the ratio of oxygen to helium depends on the temperature and location combined with the wind speed and direction.

So annoying when it’s put on wrong and the plane is hot when cleaners need to get on board and then take hours to come fix it 🤦🏽♀️

This is true. Often used when weight and balance exceeds max T/O weight.

As an LDD, I'd order an increase in helium to get my aft index closer to 50 in case 3 & 4 were heavy. If 1 & 2 were heavy, we'd break out the sand, but using the helium was always fun.
