For fairness sake there were (and perhaps still) very strong zionists that with time changed and favoured a path leading to a Palestinian state and some died for it (e.g. Rabin) but given the ascendancy of the Likud and particular Netenyahu, they are marginalized and targeted. At this point, unless there is an imposition of a peaceful solution along the pre-1967 border with the right of Palestinian return (according to the UNGA 188 which is a condition to recognize Israel as a state), the region on its own dynamics will very likely keep exploding frequently with no end in sight driven by fantasies of the extremists on both sides
