Muawiya (ra) and the others رضي الله عنهم just misunderstood and had different opinion from Khalifa Ali (ra) : Khalifa (ra) wanted to firstly stabilize the Khalifate and then punish the rebels (there is a reason behind it) because he is the LEADER of a Nation, he cannot wage another war when he didn’t even stabilize the califate (he can’t act on his own) but……Muawiya (ra) was not reasoning like Khalifa Ali (ra) and had different opinion : kill the rebels then stabilize the Caliphate. 💔

Theres a Hadith or two where the Prophet PBUH prophesizes the first fitna where he says the Muslims will split into two groups (Ali and Muawiyah) and then a third will split from the first (the Khawarij) and the more righteous of the two will kill the third. Meaning Ali is the more righteous as he defeated the Khawarij at the battle of Naharwan I think it was called. Both groups are still Muslim and righteous, the Prophet merely said the more righteous will defeat the third group. Muawiyah was the best Umayyad Caliph and a Sahabi who we are not to criticize recklessly. Events that happened over a thousand years ago should not be the reasons Muslim insult each other while Salafis and Asharis ignorantly takfir each other and the Muslim world is divided by secularism, nationalism and extremism.
