On the evening of March 13, 2021, deputies were called to a home on Lake Mack Drive in DeLand, Florida, after receiving reports of a st*bbing. When they arrived, they found 77-year-old Ronal Wells Sr. lying on the front porch, suffering from multiple wounds. Standing nearby was his 30-year-old grandson, Kolby Allen Parker. Parker first told deputies that he and his grandfather had been on the porch together when an argument broke out. Parker claimed that his grandfather attacked and he managed to disarm him and then used the we*pon in self-defense. But as deputies continued questioning him, the situation took a turn an incredibly dark turn. An officer asked Parker if he knew where his uncle or grandfather were, Parker paused before asking, “Do you want to know where Ronal Wells Jr. is?” Then he reached into his pockets, pulling out were two human ears. Parker held them out and said, “This is where he is.” And the disturbing discoveries didn’t stop there… A search of the property reportedly uncovered many disturbing items. Detectives also noted an apron hanging in Parker’s bedroom that read “The Family Butcher,” with plastic ears attached to it. As the investigation continued, authorities said Parker gave a different account of what had happened. In a post-Miranda statement, he confessed to the att*ck. When asked why, Parker allegedly said he wanted his grandfather to be with his deceased grandmother adding that it was “his time to go.” Parker was arrested and charged with second-degree m*rder, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting with v*olence. Law enforcement officers responded with INCREDIBLE tactics in this situation. Interviewing, investigating, and advocating for the victim in the same breath.
