Tropical Weather Intermediate Advisory 19B: For Hurricane Isaias: Summary: …ISAIAS NOW A MAJOR CATEGORY 3 HURRICANE… Discussion: Just 20 minutes after the 700 AM CDT intermediate advisory data from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that Isaias has strengthened to a major category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph (195 km/h) with higher gusts effective at 720 AM CDT. The minimum central pressure measured from a dropsonde is 959 mb (28.32 inches). Some additional strengthening is possible through some weakening is expected ahead of landfall.
