@usanewsdesk99: Roseanne Barr Returns With New Sitcom and Says Republicans Will Be Part of the Joke More than eight years after ABC canceled Roseanne, Roseanne Barr is preparing to lead another sitcom—with a familiar face playing her husband. According to Page Six Hollywood, the 73-year-old comedian will star in Meemaw alongside Randy Quaid, Drea de Matteo, Jon Lovitz, and Tony Hinchcliffe. Barr plays a patriotic grandmother and survival prepper raising a mixed-race family. The fictional story follows her efforts to confront a criminal empire while planning her granddaughter’s bat mitzvah. Quaid plays her husband. De Matteo plays her daughter. Despite a cast that includes several outspoken conservatives, Barr says the comedy will target people across the pol*tical spectrum. “I’ve got some great jokes about Republicans that the lefties are gonna love,” she said. Barr called the series “every bit as revolutionary” as her earlier show. That is her assessment of the project, whose premiere date and distribution platform were not identified in the report. The comeback follows the 2018 cancellation of ABC’s Roseanne revival after Barr posted an offensive comparison involving former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. Barr apologized at the time and denied rac*st intent. ABC subsequently continued the family’s story in The Conners without her. Since then, Barr has returned to stand-up and launched a podcast. Now, Meemaw gives her another starring television role. De Matteo has already described working with Barr as one of the most cherished highlights of her life.
