Some of the things I do with my venomous snakes come down to a feeling. A physical intuition that tells me I can do something without provoking a reaction. But intuition isn’t a safety measure, and I would never encourage anyone to handle venomous snakes this way. I don’t recommend keeping venomous snakes at all. I simply share my experiences as they are. That said, I’m genuinely impressed by Darth Truffles. 🖤🐍 He’s a Siamese spitting cobra (Naja siamensis), a highly venomous species capable of delivering a potentially life-threatening bite or spitting venom directly into someone’s eyes. And yet, there are moments when he chooses to sit on me for extended periods, barely moving, seemingly content to just be there. Sometimes, it feels as though he’s exploring me through physical contact, experiencing my body through his own. But the truth is, I have no idea what’s going on inside that little head of his, and I won’t pretend to know. I’ve had him for less than ten days, so these moments are particularly fascinating to me. I’m not claiming he loves me, trusts me, or understands our relationship the way a human would. I’m simply observing his behavior, appreciating these unusual moments, and sharing them with you. Because when you spend time around animals like these, sometimes the most fascinating thing isn’t what they do. It’s what you realize you still don’t understand. ⚠️ Venomous snakes are not pets for inexperienced keepers. My handling choices are personal and carry serious risks. Please don’t imitate them. #DarthTruffles #SpittingCobra #NajaSiamensis #Cobra #SnakeBehavior
