@usct.la: L.A. police claims cost nearly $480 million. Los Angeles has spent nearly $480 million over five and a half years resolving legal disputes involving its Police Department. Claims include excessive force, traffic accidents and alleged retaliation against employees who reported misconduct. The city paid $178.6 million to resolve more than 300 police-related claims in 2024 and just over $100 million in 2025.
