I’m 36, single and child-free. Going to London and Edinburgh in a few weeks to do castles and bookstores and museums, then spending a month writing in Lisbon. If I love Scotland, I might just apply to do my PhD there. I love the freedom! Nothing is worth losing that IMO.

Exactly! I’m 54 sooo happy alone and free! When people say, you don’t want to die alone. Yes I actually do! 😂 Have you ever had a man take care of you when you’re sick? I haven’t. They’re just messing up the house while you’re sick so you’ll have more work to do when you’re better. Making huffing, grunting noises irritated that you’re sick at all. Guys don’t want to die alone because they need a maid to take care of them. My years of servitude are so over.

I’m 64, I never got married, I never lived with a man, and I raised a son on my own who is now 33. I promise you, I don’t think I could be happier if I tried. I have watched most of my friends go through absolute hell whether they stayed in their marriages or ultimately got divorced. None of my friends would get married if they had been given a preview of what marriage was going to be like (including the ones who consider themselves to have a good marriage). Or they would have left long-term relationships sooner if not for the sunk cost fallacy. I haven’t even dated in like 12 years and not only do I not miss it, I don’t even think about men anymore. Genuinely. Not a diss, just a fact. In fairness, I am one of those people who is not wired for relationships and who has always been happier or single so I may be an outlier.
