One thing can help is when military fly home is to be a volunteer at the airports to drive them home. Some of these service women and men don’t have the family or means to just get home.

wait. i come from a family of 3 generations of west point grads (sadly my generation is the one that broke tradition) but we still have so much love and support for our military. how can we find when ships are coming back to port in sd? can regular civilians be there? my kid would be SO in awe to help donate to/hand out supply bags.

I heard recently people from battleships saying they don’t actually think about it at all most of the time. It feels unreal. But they still are dying and fighting and being underserved.

I am not a fan of our military. I shrink at the repetition of ‘Thank you for your service”, which is devoid of meaning at this point. I am terrified for our combatants, and I am devastated that their loved ones experience such pain in the separation and not knowing what is happening while our government plays at war games. I am grateful for people like you who show up and acknowledge these combatants with more than words. Thank you for what you do.

Welcome home, and thank you for your service. I’m sorry you and your families had to endure such a long separation. You deserved better. Supporting our troops should also mean questioning the political decisions that send them into war and keep them away from their loved ones. Our service members should never have to bear the consequences of decisions made by leaders who aren’t making the same sacrifices.
