Admittedly, it can be challenging to accept criticism, especially if the person is coming across gruff when doing so. Being humble and willing to accept you don't know everything and that you might be wrong makes life a lot less painful.

What kills me is not when they don’t accept advice from someone that’s been through it, it’s when they become combative and argumentative about the advice for no reason. And then I watch them habitually try to make whatever it is they think will work, work, when it’s been proven over and over that it won’t work. We already learned THAT won’t work, already lost our own ass because it doesn’t, and that’s the only reason we are giving the advice in the first place!
