@nicole_nathern_hedrick: 25% of American adults have very low financial literacy, and partisan creators are using that gap to spread fear and misinformation about the new Trump Accounts. Let’s look at the actual facts, how these tax-advantaged accounts work under the hood, and how you can use them to set your kids up for long-term success. Don't let internet noise cost your family real wealth. #FinancialLiteracy #TrumpAccounts #InvestingForKids

The way I see it is, we(blackpeople) have people screaming about generational debt. Trump who says well people who invest in their kids early can break that barrier. We than complain it doesn’t help me now, like it’s not for you it’s for your child’s success. I’m active duty military I transferred my military GI bill to my child why? Because I’ve already gotten my masters degree. This is the biggest issue that I have with the current state of America they want none of the long term benefits they just want the selfish shit the helps them today.

These accounts are also incredibly helpful because it doesn’t allow parents to take their children’s money

What if a child passes before they come of age? Are we able to move the money to another child’s account if they were also given a trump Ira account?

She seemed surprised you have to add your own money to it! Like what? They give you a start but then you continue to fill it.

I just did the math. If 1000 is invested and no extra money is added. With compounded interest and average 8 % traditional return...the account at retirement age will average approx 150k

When I was a financial councilor, I could not convince people to set up a 529 plan, which is similar, for the life of me. Just $25 a month for a baby will be over $20,000 at 18!. And if saved, with no further contributions, for retirement, almost $500,000!!!

Starting with the $1,000 federal investment, higher-end projections estimate it could grow to around $39,000 over 18 years. Putting that full amount toward a $120,000 home leaves an $81,000 mortgage balance. At current average 30-year fixed rates of around 7.4%, your baseline monthly payment for principal and interest would be approximately $560. WHY WOULD YOU NOT WANT THAT FOR YOUR CHILD😒

What’s interesting to me is her emphasis on ‘now.’ A lack of future thinking and planning for the effects of current day choices is a problem

10 years ago i built up an emergency fund at 5 dollars a week in a high yield account over 10 year time. not enough people dont understand compound interest...takes time....discipline. Best time to begin is when the kid is born.
