@couriernewsny: NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams warned ICE and President Donald Trump that New Yorkers would push back after an ICE agent shot 28-year-old Oscar Belgal during an enforcement operation in Marble Hill while Belgal’s 5-year-old son was in the vehicle. Williams accused federal officials of trying to make the man who was shot the focus of the story instead of scrutinizing the shooting itself. He urged residents to remain nonviolent but refuse to stay silent, warning that gunfire in a residential neighborhood in the middle of the afternoon could have put bystanders at risk. “Do not be silent,” Williams told the crowd, as he called on New Yorkers to stand up for immigrant neighbors and resist ICE operations in their communities.
