@dailymailpolitics: Speaker of the House Mike Johnson joked that he may head home for Louisiana and move to a completely different line of work if the Republican Party loses the midterm elections. Johnson is currently battling across the country to help the GOP maintain their narrow majority in the House, while Democrats attempt to take back both chambers of Congress. Speaking to Fox News, Johnson said that he's raised a record $156million in funds for GOP candidates and is confident that his party can retain control, adding that the only reason they would lose is 'because the people were misled.' However, he did say that he may be taking on a new job if he's no longer Speaker in 2027. 'Heaven forbid, if we lose this majority or whatever, I don't know what my next chapter of life is,' he said. 'If God moves on our hearts and says we should, you know, go back to my hometown of Shreveport and start a lawn business, I'll do that with equal fervor. I mean, I just want to be of my highest and best use to God and to my country.'
