@mickidonahue: USS Abraham Lincoln Returns Home: When I lived in San Diego I stood in awe of this aircraft carrier. The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has already been relieved in the Middle East and returned to its home port in San Diego, California on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The crew wore dress whites and stood on deck to honor the carrier. The Lincoln was relieved in late August 2026 by the USS George Washington, which arrived in the Middle East via U.S. Central Command orders. The ship completed a 322-day deployment (leaving in November 2025 and spending a record 265 to 286 consecutive days at sea without a port call during operations tied to the war with Iran). After beginning its voyage back in late August, the carrier and its roughly 5,000 sailors and Marines docked in San Diego. Welcome home to this carrier and its crew. #navy #sandiego #ussabrahamlincoln #honor #welcomehome
