So my youngest daughter just became a server at a little restaurant in our town. My question is what restaurant doesn’t provide the basic essentials to do her job? Like the guest book she writes orders down on? She had to Amazon order herself plus she had to buy her own serving book. Does that sound right? When I was a server, it was 20 years ago now though, everything was provided for us unless we wanted special things ourselves but the basics were provided to do our job.

I always put apps and drinks on the person who has ordered it. I’m so glad my system doesn’t let me split items. Venmo, cashapp and Zelle exist for a reason. I don’t understand the separating checks anymore (unless it’s an elderly person who probably doesn’t know how to do any of that and only has a smart phone because it’s the only thing available anymore). Large parties I usually try to push them to one check and let them know I can take multiple cards and we can either do it evenly or let me know what amount for each card I’m given.
