*RENEWED HOPE INFRASTRUCTURE DRIVE: PBAT TO FLAG OFF MAJOR LAMBATA–BIDA–MOKWA–MAKERA–KONTAGORA ROAD PROJECT* _376KM HIGHWAY PROJECT EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN CONNECTIVITY, AGRICULTURE AND COMMERCE IN NORTH-CENTRAL NIGERIA_ The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is set to flag off the reconstruction and dualisation of the Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora Federal Highway in Niger State on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, in a major infrastructure initiative aimed at strengthening transportation and supporting economic development across North-Central Nigeria. The ceremony, scheduled for 12 noon in Bida, will be attended by the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator (Engr.) Nweze David Umahi, CON; the Executive Governor of Niger State, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago; and other distinguished federal and state government officials. Dr. Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagements (North Central), has welcomed the planned flag-off as an important infrastructure development with the potential to improve connectivity, strengthen economic activities and expand opportunities for communities along the corridor. CONNECTING COMMUNITIES, UNLOCKING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES The reported 376-kilometre Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora corridor is an important transportation route whose reconstruction and dualisation are expected to improve the movement of people, agricultural produce and commercial goods across the region. Beyond road construction, the project represents an investment in the economic connections that link farmers to markets, businesses to customers and communities to wider commercial opportunities. Niger State plays an important role in Nigeria's agricultural economy. Improved road infrastructure can help strengthen access to markets, facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce and support businesses that depend on the efficient movement of goods and passengers. When completed, the project is expected to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, reduce journey delays and strengthen commercial activities along the corridor, subject to the approved engineering design and successful implementation. For transport operators, traders, farmers and residents, a more reliable highway could contribute to improved mobility and more efficient economic activity. The scale of these benefits will depend on the quality, durability and timely completion of the project. RENEWED HOPE: INFRASTRUCTURE AS A DRIVER OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT The planned flag-off aligns with the infrastructure development priorities of President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which identifies transportation infrastructure as an important component of economic growth and national development. Reliable road networks are essential to connecting agricultural production centres with markets, supporting the distribution of goods and services, and improving access between communities and commercial destinations. For Niger State and the wider North-Central region, the successful execution of this project could strengthen regional connectivity and support economic activities across the communities served by the highway. ABOUT THE RENEWED HOPE INFRASTRUCTURE DRIVE The Directorate of Infrastructure Mobilisation and Sensitisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council promotes public awareness and stakeholder engagement around infrastructure development priorities associated with the Renewed Hope Agenda. SIGNED: *Dr. Abiodun Essiet* Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement for the North Central.
