hey! i’m japanese. this is not cultural appropriation if it’s being done respectfully. this is a common thing in japan as well, there are many videos of tourists in getting their makeup, hair, and outfits done like this! it’s specificslly for photoshoots, i do not believe they let you walk out with it frim my knowledge. I am NOT a taylor swift fan and i genuinely do hate her with all my heart, but her getting her makeup done like this isn’t cultural appropriation. it’s actually encouraged for tourists to come and get their makeup done and do these pjotoshoots!

u cannot be serious comparing this to boxbraids there's a huge culture in Japan of ppl dressing up as geishas, not only for locals but for tourists too(same thing with traditional Chinese/Korean dresses in China/Korea) it is made for photoshoots at historical places to make photos like u're in the era when sertain things were common(and local are OKAY with that and they're OKAY with ppl appreciating their culture) wearing boxbraids it's smthn different, this hairstyle is part of black culture and they can decide if they're comfortable with other races to wear them or not(they can't control over ppl but they can express their feelings about ppl wearing them). and just for u to know in Korea there's a high rate of racism to black ppl and indeed it is common to see racism to black ppl in the kpop industry. idk who exactly r u talking about but for some black ppl kpop community automatically means racism towards them and even if that idol isn't racist they still can express their feelings about them wearing boxbraids (and mind u, I'm white so calling me with no word or telling me to cry about it won't work. I do live in Singapore and I do have friends who r Chinese, Japanese and Korean(also I've been to China multiple times) so I do know that Eastern Asian r okay with ppl wearing their traditional clothes cuz I heard it from them and saw it with my own eyes)
