in US chemicals are innocent until proven guilty against billion dollar companies, in EU there is REACH which requires the companies to prove that the chemicals are safe... .Ames a huge difference in quality of products sold in EU (on a side note China has higher safety standards than US).

Thankfully we learned there are certain stages of use and we no longer use long processed liquid smoke in the US while Europe never changed their method.
