@thegirldadofficia: Jacob "Jake" Harman (often spelled Harmon) was at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and its school roughly from 2000 until mid-2017. According to reporting on the church's recent settlement and court records: * He connected with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 2000 while on probation after a 1999 assault conviction in Las Vegas, and was hired soon after to help with wrestling at Maranatha Christian Academy (Calvary Chapel High School in Santa Ana). * After about six years on staff, he was ordained on March 15, 2006. Chuck Smith and three other leaders signed the certificate so he could minister to men in prison. He also coached wrestling and led youth-related work. * He was still the head wrestling coach there in the mid-2010s (videos from 2013 and 2015 identify him that way). * * In February 2016 he was arrested for DUI in Huntington Beach and later pleaded guilty.
He was not fired. * His ordination was revoked on July 25, 2017. Church records show he still received donations through the church for several months after that. * That window is about 2000 to July 2017. He has continued coaching wrestling in Southern California since leaving the church. In October 2026, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa agreed to pay $12 million to settle a lawsuit alleging he sexually assaulted a former church employee; the church admitted no fault. A 2023 court ruling in a related defamation case found he had sexually assaulted her on at least one occasion.
