I don’t remember ANYBODY caring that my mortgage rate in 1979 at age 23 was 10.5

And we knew we wouldn't be going to Europe until we were retired and most of these young people have traveled extensively in their 20s and early 30's

We also were ok with small spaces. Our first houses were 2,000sq ft. We didn’t start with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths.

I have crooked teeth, an overbite, and a lazy eye and wear glasses since I was 8. I bought a house when I was 50 that I didn’t think I’d ever be able to buy. I could only because of low interests rates during the Great Recession and because I had a settlement from falling and breaking that overbite. It helped me pay off my Gen Jones student loans—at 50—and I’m due to complete mortgage payments at the age of 80 on my 1978 split-level. My workplace, on a good year, gave up to 2% merit raises and gave no raises for 8 out of 10 years prior to COVID, and again no raises during COVID. I’m getting tired of hearing how great I’ve had it.
