@itsmorgansanner: What is with everyone dropping off the corporate ladder lately? Maybe it’s just my feed, but I’ve seen more people than ever dropping out of corporate to take jobs as servers, bartenders, baristas, etc. But why? They don’t pay as well, and in theory, corporate jobs are way easier. So head to substack to read what I found in my deep dive! & follow along for all things work! #corporateamerica #careerladder #burnout #goodjob #toxicjob
because they need to make 2 hours of actual work last an entire 8 hour shift.

Having done both, there is also a benefit in being physically tired even though it doesn't feel like it at the time! Being mentally tired while having barely moved all day really messes up your sleep.

For me it’s the office environment. Absolute torture chamber. Fully remote and I wouldn’t mind the job lacking that list.

The only reason I’m still in corporate are money. If I would get the same amount as a barista, I would leave corporate in a minute

I‘m more of an introvert, yet working retail has made me so much happier than sitting in an open-plan hotdesking office updating 5 different lists about my KPIs

honestly corporate work is great if it was fully remote or 2 hybrid days or super flexible with in-person days — otherwise it’s hell😭

I work in corporate, the other day I helped an old man get soup from a top shelf in a supermarket and I felt genuinely better after that than I have done in the last 3 years of work

It’s the isolation for me, I’ve been fully remote for 5 years. It’s so frustrating when you’re constantly chasing someone for an answer because without that you cannot complete that task. You can ask for help and receive no response and then it’s gets flipped on you if deals run over…. Sir I asked for help multiple times over a 3 week span and heard nothing back. And why does it take 2 weeks and for the higher ups to write “approved” in a email.

I’ve been military, stay at home mum, corporate, barista, restaurant manager, and by far the happiest I am is a cleaner in a pub from 4-10am by myself cleaning up night before.

there is literally Medical and Science Literature explaining that the mind can't perform 247 356... why are people shocked for a simple logical thing (for me at least**). People need to rest and sleep. No matter the work. Physical work is actually more rewarding,as per the above research and publications.

I am in constant frustration because I can never finish anything, nothing every closes, always im limbo because people take the piss. It makes me miserable to be around, becuse I have no patience during the work day.

I went from a dental practice to corporate. It's been 4 years now, had a couple of promotions and all that, but I'm going back to practice. Corporate is just a cauldron of bullshit and numbers thrown at you.

True critical thinking, and decision making is just as taxing at the end of the day. I’ve worked blue and white collar, both are very different types of tiring

that and open floor plans, it never being finished so you "take it home" either physically or mentally, and just the mental load and barely any movement. physical jobs are draining because you are on your legs all day, mental jobs are draining because you sit and have to be mindfull about things and think 10 steps ahead. i have done both, both have pros and cons.

I pass days doing nothing waiting for things to be review or clients to answer. Some days I dont have work. I have to an office to do nothing all day. So I get tired because I got a phone dependency because its the only thing I can do without my boss complain

Been in both but even when I’m mentally exhausted after a week of corporate, I love it much better than dealing with customers and shifts in general. Corporate may not be better for my mental health but neither is service 🤷🏻♀️

The mental drain leaves me physically exhausted. They want more and more, faster and faster, use AI but don't have a personal one but they won't pay for a business account and I don't want to use AI anyway but now it's required. I'm drowning in stupid OKRs that result in new functions and tasks that I still have to manage in the next quarter and also do the new OKRs. FOR WHAT?!
