@chantaldenise12: The orphan club. 💔 A club nobody ever wants to join. There’s something about losing both of your parents that changes you forever. No matter how old you are, there’s still a part of you that just wants your mom or dad. Grief is complicated. It’s missing their voices, their presence, the memories, and all the moments they’ll never physically be here for. You can be a parent, a grandparent, and have a whole life of your own, yet still feel like a child who just wants their parents back. Sending love to everyone navigating life without one or both parents. ❤️ #grief #healing #fyp #medium #parentloss

I lost my parents when I was in my 50s. I'm now 73 and I still feel like an orphan. They were the grandparents, and now that's me. I miss them at every family gathering. I wish they could be there. I wish they could know my grandchildren.

It’s like being on a ship that has no place to dock. I’m so sorry for your loss.

It's so scary. I lost my dad when I was 15 and my mom at 45. I feel lost. I have a family of my own but feel like I'm alone and have no one. They were way different grieving processes and I find I just feel lost.

I lost my mom when I was a 31 year old newlywed. My dad passed away a few years. I’m an only child. It’s still so sad to me to not have any tie to my childhood….no one to ask what was I for Halloween in 1980 or no one to laugh with about that Christmas in 1993 where dinner was a disaster. Sorry for your loss.

It is weird, it feels like you are no longer attached to this world even if you have kids etc. there’s now no one who can tell you about things only your parents had memories of you about.

Lost my dad 12 years ago and my mom 15 months ago. I’m 48 now and part of the club. My dad was one thing. Losing my mom had been the most heartbreaking experience of my entire life. Knowing that you will never have someone who unconditionally love you anymore in the world - who believed in you with their whole heart - who knew everything about you. I’ll never be the same again

It's an awful feeling. Very lonely and like I'm just moving through the days, not living.

August 29th 1992 I lost my mom….September 21 1998 I lost my dad. I was 30 and an orphan. I’m sorry you are now experiencing it. It’s hard not being someone’s daughter.

It’s so weird. I was 21 when I became an orphan. Way too young 🥺 I don’t know what it’s like to be a grown up with a parent. I don’t know what it’s like to be a parent with a parent of my own. It’s so unfair :(

Yeah, it’s wild. I feel lost even though I have my husband (who is a great supporter) & my Son and his family. Holidays are so hard now. I find myself really trying to be joyful but sad at the same time. I miss their hugs, talks & them telling me that they are so proud of me.

I understand! I felt like my sense of security went with my dad. It was devastating, it still hurts!

I understand. The feeling is unlike any other. Your foundation is gone. No matter how old I got my parents still were there until they weren’t. There’s a piece of me missing. I’m 56.

Understand completely. Just lost my dad August 22, 2026 and my mother was 29 years ago. It’s the worst feeling yet for me and totally strange not having him (them) with me. I am sorry for you though. [Broken heart]

So this is how I described it to somebody at my dad’s memorial on Saturday. It’s like we’re all balloons and our family holds us to the ground but now I don’t have my family here anymore to hold me to the ground so I’m just sort of floating like I’m not flying up but I’m like a balloon that’s half filled with healing so I’m just sort of floating over the ground. I’m not rooted anymore you know?

My dad passed in January and I agree, being parentless is so so strange. I feel like I have no purpose even though I have kids and have lots of purpose…it’s so difficult to keep it together
