@feedinglactationconnect: Breastfeed for as long as you effing want. Whether it’s 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 years. It’s no one else’s business. No else’s opinion matters but yours. But also some info… In 2022, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended that families should breastfeed for at least 2 years and beyond. This now aligns with the World Health Organization (WHO) who has been recommending extended breastfeeding to 2 years and beyond since 2002. This is supported by the benefits that come with continued breastfeeding beyond 12 months (as long as you and your baby desire). Benefits include: ✅ continues to be a meaningful source of nutrition ✅ continues to have immunologic factors to help growing toddlers ✅ decreases rate of type 2 diabetes for mom ✅ decreases rate of hypertension for mom ✅ decreases rate of ovarian and breast cancer in mom ✅ that ongoing supportive and comforting relationship between child and parent Whatever your breastfeeding goals, I hope this information is helpful! xoxo, Rachael #breastfeeding #breastfeedingtoddler #breastfeedingbeyond12months #breastfeedingaslongasyouwant
